Colombia, Fastest Growing Of The Major Latin American Economies
The central bank governor said that aggregate demand has maintained strong growth in context of near-full employment. For this reason, the central bank “Banco de la República” raised the benchmark rate a quarter point to 4.25 per cent.
Colombian economy grew 6.4 per cent more during the first quarter in comparison with the same period last year, the central bank has also modified the forecast of growth for 2014, appointing between 4.2-5.8 per cent.
Colombian consumer prices rose 2.8 percent in June from a year earlier, the slowest pace among Latin America’s seven largest economies. The central bank targets inflation of 3 percent, plus or minus one percentage point.
Uribe, the Colombian Primer Minister said he expects inflation will end the year close to 3 percent.
