Apple Lost iPhone Trademark in Brazil

Brazil’s trademark regulator, Inpi, has ruled that the trademark of “iphone” belongs to Gradiente, a consumer electronics company. Gradiente filed for the use of “iphone” brand back in 2000, which is seven years before Apple launched its smartphone. At this point Apple could file for an appeal or settle out-of-court with Gradiente.
