Transforming Mexico: The Mexican National Pact
The National Pact includes more than 100 measures but all of them will revolve around five fundamental initiatives:
– Private investment in Pemex (National Oil Company)
– Educative Reform
– Open the Telecommunications sector to competition
– Set a ceiling expenditure for each state.
– Implementation of a social security system to ensure a pension to those over 65 years old.
Mexico is the 13th economy in the world by size and yet ranks 57th in the United Nations Human Development Index and 51st in The International Competitiveness Index. Thus the battle for inequality seems to be counting their days and regardless, it’s the first time that the Mexican Congress goes throughout a National Pact for progress without being an emergency.
Below you can see the Mexican Pact for prosperity announcement by the Mexican Prime Minister, Enrique Pena Nieto.
